Projects / St. Mary at Hill

20 St. Mary at Hill was an existing building constructed in the late 1970’s as part of the St Mary’s Court Development and 100 Lower Thames St. The existing building, which itself was not of significant architectural merit, formed part of a larger development. The strategy was to replace the building and to re-use the existing foundations to reduce below ground disturbance and cost.
The site is restricted; being surrounded by narrow streets and historic buildings and the design respects these through its architectural composition and choice of material. It has complemented the surroundings and contributed to a more balanced architectural environment.
