Projects / Lower Gower Mews

This is a development of 16 starter and family homes in a historic town in Hertfordshire.

The site is currently occupied by redundant industrial buildings, and by replacing these with good quality contemporary houses, the predominantly residential character of the area will be consolidated and much improved.

The existing properties surrounding the site are a mixture of Victorian and late twentieth century two and three storey detached; semi-detached and terraced houses and the proposal aims to complement these in scale and material. A new access road, will run parallel to the existing streets, and the proposed houses, both two and three storey, are arranged in short terraces.

The external walls of the buildings are faced in brickwork and/or render with the units having colour coated zinc panels to the oriel windows and pitched roofs with dormers clad in standing seam zinc.

Despite the restricted nature of the site the requirements for adequate access, parking, privacy, refuse collection, security and landscaped amenity space have all been met and the proposal is expected to receive Planning Consent in January 2019 with a start on site in the autumn of the year.
