No. 70 Chancery Lane is the redevelopment & extension to a group of historic buildings on a site bounded by Chancery Lane & High Holborn & set within the Chancery Lane Conservation Area. It provides a mixed development of modern open plan office accommodation, 7 street level retail units & 9 high quality apartments on the periphery of the City Of London’s mid-city district. Planning permission was granted in September 2004 for demolition of the existing buildings behind the original retained facades. The consent included new high quality brick & Portland Stone facades to High Holborn and Southampton Buildings which extend the architectural theme of the original retained facades to provide a continuation of the urban character of the area. The building was completed in 2008.
